Lars tried to emulate some aspects of Brann's drumming in The Day That Never Comes.

Im sure there are plenty of bands influenced by Mastodon out there. But they all haven't been noticed yet. I mean come on. Mastodon just a few years ago started becoming one of those bands most everyone has heard about. They are defiantly a more popular band now then they were before Blood Mountain was released. And that was only back in 06. Its gonna be awhile before we actually see bands who claim they have influence from Mastodon. Thats how i see it at least.

This.

There are similar-sounding ones now who have taken some influence, but I think that the true influence will show up within a few years when we have people who are ripping off Mastodon so hard its not even funny.

I think it can easily be argued that the band has been seminal in the underground at least since Leviathan.

Try since Lifesblood and especially since Remission. These guys weren't unknowns when they started, Brann and Bill were fresh out of Today Is The Day, and ever since the "In The Eyes Of God" album came out, people knew who they were and were talking about them.

Taint released Ruin Of Nova Roma when the band had been together for more than ten years, and their sound hasn't changed that dramatically. To say that Mastodon is their main influence would be inaccurate and unfair.

The now sadly departed Mirimar Disaster definitely wore their love of Mastodon on their sleeves and chests.
