OK, so I've always wanted to start keeping a record of all the various Mastodon live recordings that are floating out there. So here's the beginnings of just such a list / collection.

First things first, this is just a straight list of some of the recordings I know are out there, though I have more on various data backup DVDs and I also lost some from my early Mastodon trades when I had a harddrive crash on me. I'm going to scour the internet some more for various lists and recordings.

Please post any missing info, or PM me, and I'll add it to the list. Eventually I'd like it to include setlists and info, source and taper info, reviews, pictures and screen caps, and then maybe just move it off onto its own site / page (in case this board crashes again).
FLAC sounds like something that would exit a butt.

Carry on.

Why should I spend my time trying to teach you if you won't spend your time trying to learn it on your own.

Look, there isn't anything to it really. Download a torrent client, maybe do some reading on the differences between different clients to see what might be the easiest to use for you. This client will act as an interface for you and the torrent. Once the client is up and running, click on a torrent, the client will open it up and downloading begins.

I use Azureus personally, though I downloaded three different ones until I found one I was comfortable using, so just give it a go! I've found some pretty awesome shit using torrents, it's worth the little bit of effort required.

OK, so heres the first set of mp3s that I will be uploading, from the Feb 16 2003 show in Tillburg, Holland. This is an mp3 sourced soundboard recording from the Remission era, apparently opening for High On Fire on this particular tour.

This was a pretty awesome show, filled with lots of tunes we will probably never hear them play again. The sound quality is perfect (for an mp3 sourced show), and the band were pretty flawless.

I'll post more shows whenever I have the time, though if someone else feels like sharing, please do!

I was at this show so this is awesome !

Strides The Behemoth / Mother Puncher / Hail To Fire

Circulating recordings:
Audience recording - MP3 sourced

Notes: Very bass heavy recording in parts.
Trampled Under Hoof is a little sloppy.

=====================================

This isn't the best recording out there. This isn't the band at it's tightest, and the recording is very bassy in a lot of parts. There's also people talking near the mics.

However I still like this. The overpowering bass is unfortunate, but I love these old Remission shows. Small crowds, old tunes, I dig it. It's funny hearing the talkers compare Brann to Danny Carey. It's only circulating in mp3, though, uploaded by the taper onto the old Relapse board shortly after the show took place.

This one isn't circulating much to my knowledge, but then again, what the fuck do I know, I barely download anything anymore. Regardless, here it is for you know, so enjoy!

Once the Mastodon one is up to speed, I will be doing a High On Fire one. biggrin.gif

And yes, there are many High On Fire live recordings, I have a bunch.
Check this out, something I shot with my wife and some friends here in Oakland:

Did you see the High On Fire DVD that came with the latest album? That one was something I shot and edited for them. Theres no live concert footage, but it's a more up close look at the making and songwriting for the album. Matt Pike said it also did a good job at bringing out their prsonalities and humanity.

So yeah, lotsa High On Fire, get ready.

OK, so I did a big update, something I'd been working on for a while, though something I should have started years ago. This might not be something most people here are even interested in, but it seems fitting to have all this info collected and posted here, even if it's just for someone googling for this sort of stuff.

I'll eventually start seeding a bunch of Mastodon live recordings as the band gets geared up to tour again. Hopefully this will shake a bunch of recordings loose, both new and old. I know that there are a lot of recordings out there, so hopefully people will be inspired to post them, or be inspired to record them when they come to your city.

So I have a few shows to go along with the big update, more MP3 sourced shows.

This isn't the best sounding show, because it sounds really compressed, especially in the cymbals. Was this captured from a streaming internet thing?

Its still a fun listen though, because this was before the band hit Seattle to record Leviathan. Check out "Blood And Thunder", which was pretty much one line repeated over and over. Hehehe.

That was me. Thanks bro! I originally got it off someone over at the slayersaves forums. I can't remember if it is the whole set or not, they only had a 20 minute set on that Unholy Alliance tour.

Is Naked Burn from the 2004 show from the Crowbar you posted, the one on the Workhorse DVD? Just thought because it was hardly played it might have been from that.

Really? 20 minutes? It seems like it should be longer than just 4 tunes, but I dont have any other recordings from the UK leg of the Unholy Alliance tour to compare it to. In the US they played a 30 minute set on that tour, 3 more songs than whats in that mp3.

Still, it sounds good, and I dig it! Thanks for posting it over here.

As far as the Naked Burn performance, well, I forgot where that was shot, if it even says on the DVD. That song was played for about two months, at least, and I know there are a bunch of recordings of it.
stueethedalek
the Unholy nights were pretty good for introducing the band to a wider audience. The problem was they ahd too many bands on the bill, being Mastodon (1st), Hatebreed (2nd, shouldn't have been on the bil IMO) then Slayer and Slipknot alternated.

So Mastodon got 20 minutes to impress whoever was there. We only caught the tail end of them the first night but the 2nd night I'm pretty sure they played either Capillarian Crest or Circle Of Cysquatch (the more likely of the two, can't remember and can't be arsed looking up online)
