Full Version: Divinations Tab and Video Lesson with Brent and Bill in this months Guitar World!
Mastodon Board > Mastodonia > Mastodon
sethalic carnage
I know there's a separate thread for CTS tabs but the new Guitar World has Divinations tabbed and a CD ROM with a video lesson of the song with Brent and Bill. The video lesson gives a lot of insight into how Brent and Bill play and how their styles differ. Definitely worth the $7.

Yeah, please do. I got the magazine because I subscribe, but for some reason I never get the CDs, and I could really use the video lesson.
do_or_die
I would give my left nut to have this clip up on youtube!
KABIR LOVERO
I saw this on Wal-Mart and was going to buy it, and afterwards thought, mmmh, some Mastodude hopefully will post it in a couple of days.

Proud to be a cheap bastard.

I tried uploading the lesson last night but YouTube says it's too big. I don't have the software or the knowledge to edit the video to try and make it smaller. Sorry but you guys might have to buy the mag.

Mastodon in Metal Hammer UK again... its like a regular 4 pages (mostly pictures) that focuses on one show. In this case the manchester academy gig. No pics of me crowd surfing (awwwwwwwwwwesome) but stories about Brent trying to find a cup of tea and some weirdo drawing portraits of the band and presenting them at the HMV signing.

not much of a 'lesson' really. mor elike brent shows off how poorly he can explain a song he wrote, and bill shows how much better his guitar sounds than brent's.
Paperjace
Goddamn, I love Brent's style.

You certainly talk big for a Ricky Gervais fan on a board full of "real" comedy enthusiasts, i respect that, yet fear for you.

Damn right!

I think Bill would explain the song much better and clearer than Brent, because he at least knows what he's doing laugh.gif

My fav parts are when they are playing the entire song in the begining and Brent goes of the tempo in and after the solo, even Bill looked at him but he didn't notice. The other one is all of the moments Brent plays with his hybrid picking and doesn't know how to explain it, I love him.

Funny video.
Yalo
great guitar players, just not meant to be teachers. ever.
ohlund
I can play that song better than brent

Brent: My guitar is tuned to uhh... standard but drop E from..
William: It's D Standard
Brent: D Standard

they could have their own webcast comedy thing going, Two Williams and The Muzak Minute.

i'm really tired.

Scan the motherfucking tab.

iamsickofspam
HAHA, Brents like me, doesnt know what the fuck he is playing, just knows it sounds good and where to put his fingers.

Still, Brent and Bill are two pretty big influences on my guitar playing, i love those guys in a non gay way.

I just hope one day the 'Don will do something with Patton', then i can die a happy man!

deftone82
That's one funny vid.

Will: when I play it, I ring this one out... or I trie to...
Brent: That 's not the way it's supposed to go
Will: But that's the way you showed me!
Brent: Really?

Anyway...anyone got a decent tab of this? I found one on Ultimate Guitar, but that is tabbed out more difficult than they play it

For anyone who hasn't downloaded them or doesn't feel like it, I found the lessons on YouTube. Judging by the username of the person who put them up, I'm assuming it was our very own radu123, so thanks all around to him.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYLf4Z-nuME
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwXpkTaxOPM...feature=related

Anyone notice that before they refer to the sections by the colorful names Brent gives them, that they call the "No escape" part the pre-chorus and the "Fire in the eye" part the chorus. I'm no scientist, but I'm pretty fucking sure the first one should be called the chorus and the latter should be called, oh, I don't know...the bridge? Maybe I'm alone in this, but I would never have interpreted the part before the solo as the chorus itself.

True.

Plus brent is such a fucking guitar hero wannabe.

I thought that too.

thanks for the upload!
deftone82
anyone found a descent tab on this one?

The ones on Ultimate Guitar are crap and they play it (especially the intro) different.

Will be appreciated!
