Awesoem news BUT please, please please let there be a headline show in New Zealand!!! (and Oz)
I agree the festival is an awesome way for the band to get even more exposure and it's a pretty good festival series for that, but the band had huge support in New Zealand when they played with Slayer and as much as I love the band, I can't see myself shelling out $135 odd to see the boys in the middle of the day for possibly only 30 minutes. Plus flights and accommodation. Whinge over.

This is amazing, but the BDO lineup is a pile of shit this year. I want to see Mastodon so badly but i can't bring myself to pay that much just to see them for 30 minutes

Please do sideshows in the major cities, you have more than enough fans to support the tour and you'll be in the country anyway.
That said, I'll probably end up paying 2x the price for a scalped ticket the day before the show if there doesn't end up being any sideshows

Did that, 3x. One of those times they where thrown out of the lineup at the day of the show.
I know it sucks, but at least they come to your country. And it's a lot cheaper than booking a flight to the US+buying a ticket+hotel+taxi etc.

I can't believe they haven't announced a Perth headlined sideshow!! They have a huge following/fanbase in WA. Their tour promoters suck!

I was so depressed they weren't doing a Perth headline I bought a plane ticket and a ticket to the Melbourne gig. Fuck I love the mighty 'don!!
With that sort of set time - We may possibly see 'Crack the Skye' from start to finish like they did at some of their recent European headline shows. Though with that time frame they could possibly fit in blood mountain aswell. So fucking pumped.

Only three days till the Melbourne show now!
A mate knows a few people that went to the sydney show and they said that the don played for about an hour and a half. They didn't mention CtS in its entirety which WOULD be kick ass but its not manditory, whatever the setlist i bet they'll tear it up. I hope they have that trippy as fuck backdrop too!
Frothing man..

Thats awesome for all the fans that went!
I actually spoke to someone who went to the sydney side show who said that they did indeed play for 2 hours WITH Crack the Skye in full!!! so i think we can expect the same for the melbourne show on thursday. they didn't have that cool backdrop unfortunately, should be a killer show.

At the Sydney show at the UNSW Roundhouse they played...
Crack The Skye (full album)
Circle Of The Cysquatch
Aqua Dementia
Where Strides the Behemoth
Mother Puncher
Iron Tusk
March of the Fire Ants
Soundcheck went for about 2 hours and played most of the set with snippets of Sleeping Giant and some Black Sabbath throw in.
The gig itself was amazing. All of the guys were in awesome form. Brents voice was superb, Troys vocals cannot be faulted and to see Bill sing during Mother Puncher and Fire Ants was brilliant!
How the hell Brann managed to perform in the heat of the venue is beyond me, he just nailed eveything. A perfect musician is every sense.
I snapped many a photo which I shall post soon and got to hang out with the band for quite some time along with The Mars Volta and Fear Factory. Was a perfect day!
